Hello everyone. I’m Ian, the new blogger for A Future in Noise. My schedule is really mad at the moment, but I’m going to aim for posting once a week or so.
All of the most important moments in my life have a song or album attached to them, whether it be making samosas with my aunt to Asha Bhosle or driving to Austin with Sonic Youth’s vastly underrated Dirty album playing, so I suppose that’s something to do with my relationship to music. My listening goes beyond mere enjoyment. I have an all-consuming obsession with music of all kinds, and I absolutely love sharing the stuff I get into with everyone else. Like Marilyn, I’m working through a list at the moment (though I’m not as ambitious as she is; my list is SPIN Magazine’s Top 100 albums of 1985-2005), but if there’s anything else I should be aware of, please point me in that direction. I’m also going to write a lot about bands who distribute their music for free via the Internet. Though CDs have better sound quality, digital distribution is the future and I want to highlight those on the vanguard of it.

WHO AM I?: Apart from listening to and making music, I attend community college, haunt Downtown Dallas in search of vegetarian restaurants that fit a college student’s budget, read all the classics and Oprah’s Book Club Selections that I’ve yet to read and dabble in filmmaking.
