E. K. Wimmer, a multi-instrumental solo artist based in Colorado (previously featured in the AFIN review for What Was Once Veduta Is Now Found) has recently released a new single “Puppets and Ninjas”, for his upcoming release The Invisible Audience.

The most immediately noticeable aspect of the track, if you have heard his recent LP, is the difference in style- more theatrical, and closer to the glam side of Wimmer’s influences, contrasting in some ways the post-punk vibe present on his previous album (which was also reviewed at post-punk.com), while the dark soundtrack element is still there. Accompanying the single is a smooth remix of “Puppets & Ninjas” and “A Song for Maria”, a lovely, drifting instrumental. Based on the material here and his work in the past, I have great expectations for The Invisible Audience!
