Zelazowa is an alternative rock band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, also including founders of revolutionary independent tour-booking site Indie on the Move, comprised of members Bryan (vocals and guitar), Ian (vocals and bass), Kyle (guitar), and Terry (drums and vocals). Elephants on a Mousehunt, their 2nd LP, was recently released via CD Baby.

Opener “Today is Tomorrow” starts the album out crunchy and grunge-flavored, with bits of Billy Corgan and Chris Cornell-esque vocal aesthetics. The lyrics of “Numbers” are the source of the album’s title, starting off slow and melodic and thundering through with swift-moving guitar and drums. “You Say Love”, “Baby Blue”, and “Everything We Are” show a softer side of Zelazowa, while still maintaining their hard rock flair. “Autumn” and “Fade Too” darken and thickens the plot, while tracks like “Boneyard Destruction” and “Serene” are memorable for their powerful roughness. Tracks “Like Swine For Words” and “To The Gallows” particularly recall their At the Drive-In influence. Closers “Madama Wrecking Ball” and “I Got My Gun” are my favourites of the album, with the former’s driving relentlessness and the latter’s irresistable swagger. When you feel the need to listen to something tough that will get you fired up, reach for Zelazowa!
