Black Nite Crash - Alternative / Shoegaze - Washington, USA
Spotting Spacemen 3, the Church, and Screen Vinyl image in Black Nite Crash’s top friends on MySpace Music provided a bit of an indicator of the music to come. Black Nite Crash’s (named after the Ride single) latest release Array proves a fine edition to the burgeoning neo-shoegaze scene, tossing in enough psychedelic fuzz and flair of their own to make for a superb listen. The Girobabies - Alternative - Scotland, UK
This Scottish 4-piece, without an official album release as of yet, have begun to gain much attention as of late through gigging and on-line promotion. Not sounding particularly like any other band around right now, the Girobabies carry on that long-running indie spirit with much gusto- a band to watch. Have a listen to “Party Around Me” and the especially epic “Summer Showers”.

Ricky Lynn - Electronic / Experimental / Noise - USA
An artist I heard because of Rate Your Music, Ricky Lynn has crafted a set of spacey, eerie, and inventive instrumental tunes in his recent LP Inflated Dreams Float Away (available for free streaming+download), which is perhaps best described as what avant-garde jazz would sound like in an ambient, experimental context. Check out “Ask Me Why and I Won’t Tell” and “Enoz”.

Steaming Coils - Experimental / Lo-Fi / Rock - California, USA
Little information is available about this underground 80’s LA band, apart from their affiliation with the Los Angeles Free Music Society. Luckily, their fabulous, avant-garde output is available for free over at Last.fm. Listen to “Notes” and “A Door Slept”.


Vito Genovese - Electronic - Florida, USA
Like Ricky Lynn, another RYM artist: Vito Genovese is a composer of electronic/ambient music, with his most recent release being The Waiting Game. An incredibly eerie, nighttime feel pervades the album, like that of a deserted arcade: listen to “The Night Drive” and “I Swore You Were Dreaming”.
