Weekend Listens: Jaydiohead, The Dead Weather, Noah and the Whale, Sally Shapiro

Jaydiohead - Encore: Max Tannone (Minty Fresh Beats) has just put out a sequel to his original Jay-Z x Radiohead mash-up album (which A Future in Noise covered upon release in December and made MOG’s front page over!), Encore, which includes 5 additional quality mash-ups and is available for download at the Jaydiohead site! You can grab the first Jaydiohead release here, and I also recommend taking a listen to some of his official Beastie Boys Check Your Head remixes here (click on News and scroll down; track pick: “3’s What’cha Want”!). The full track breakdown of Encore with Soundcloud links follows below:

1. Air Roc - “Roc Boys (And the Winner Is…)” (Jay-Z, American Gangster) + “Airbag” (Radiohead, OK Computer)
2. Life There - “Party Life” (Jay-Z, American Gangster) + “There There” (Radiohead, Hail to the Thief)
3. Reckoner’s Encore - “Encore” (Jay-Z, The Black Album) + “Reckoner” (In Rainbows, Radiohead)
4. Song and Cry - “Song Cry” (Jay-Z, The Blueprint) + “High and Dry” (The Bends, Radiohead)
5. December Backdrifts - “December 4th” (Jay-Z, The Black Album) + “Backdrifts” (Radiohead, Hail to the Thief)

The Dead Weather - Horehound: The Dead Weather are comprised of Alison Mosshart (vocals/guitar, The Kills), Dean Fertita (guitar, Queens of the Stone Age), Jack Lawrence (bass, The Greenhornes/The Raconteurs), and Jack White (drums/vocals, The White Stripes). Their album Horehound will shatter any preconceptions you may have about the potentially scrambled sound of a ‘supergroup’; it’s meant to be turned up loud, with its heavy, but not harsh, blues grit sound. Free download single “Treat Me Like Your Mother” is a stomping highlight. Horehound is available to stream in full via iLike now and is officially released on 7/14.

Noah and the Whale - The First Days of Spring: Noah and the Whale have released the title track from their forthcoming album The First Days of Spring (8/31), an epic piece clocking in at 6:39 that is possibly one of the most moving songs the band have put out to date- grab it *here*!

—-
Sally Shapiro - Love in July: Sally Shapiro is a Swedish Italo-disco artist set to release single “Love in July” on 7/14 through Paper Bag Digital, along with a pack of remixes (including one by CFCF). The cute music video, created by Paul Leeny and David Loom, is available to watch below- check it out!:
