The Beastie Boys have meant a lot to me and my family - both of my parents are fans and their music was introduced to me as a child, to the extent that the Beastie Boys logo was one of the first things I could read…”Stand Together” is one of my favorite MCA-lead vocals tracks, so I wanted to share that here now in his memory.

Previously featured on A Future in Noise and appearing on Vulpiano Records, Derek Piotr has been a long-time favorite now and I have been pleased so see him continue to grow as an artist and release increasingly fascinating works. Airing includes the signature Piotr sound-collage aesthetics, delivered in a newly crisp, refined sonic atmosphere. The tracks are not merely sound/art objects. Unusual arrangements of the time and space music and effects occupy — rapid-fire electronic blasts amidst a slow, plodding rhythm or chiming bells — along with eerie vocals and fragments of sound make for the tracks on Airing to be compelling pieces to take in and dissect. Highly recommended.
